Kick the Clutter: How to Organize on a Budget

(DailyThrive.com) – Living in chaos is stressful on so many levels. In fact, researchers have found a direct link between the state of our homes and our mental health. Being surrounded by a mess just makes us feel more stressed.

To rein in the chaos, we’ll need to get organized, and it’s important to figure out what exactly we can afford. While we might prefer to pay someone to come in and magic away the mess — in fact, many home organizing services are more than happy to do it — it may not be in the budget.

Happily, there are many ways to kick the clutter without breaking the bank. Here are a few.

Consider Storage Options

Do we have gift baskets or boxes lying around that we aren’t using? These could be put to use in our mission to organize the mess, quite literally, out of our houses.

Try to think outside the box here. Small makeup bags collecting dust can make great purse organizers. Small gift boxes could create excellent drawer storage. Plus, it doesn’t cost a dime to use what we have already.

Get Thrifty

Visiting thrift stores, garage sales, and even the local Dollar Tree can help keep costs down while organizing. While that expensive organizer we’re eyeing on Amazon might seem like the answer, we might be able to find just what we need on a shoestring budget.

Add Shoe Organizers

A back-of-the-door shoe organizer can be a great way to give extra space when organizing a pantry. While we can certainly also organize our shoes this way, a clear shoe organizer can hold anything from craft supplies to children’s toys.

There are so many ways to organize, and none of them have to break the bank. With a little creativity and perhaps an amazing playlist, we can jump in and kick the clutter to the curb.
