Believe it or not, Shay made almost $30,000 in sales her first year. This doesn’t sound quite as impressive when you factor in crafting and shipping expenses, listing fees, transaction fees and taxes. But that’s no reason to toss the idea out the window; all businesses have overhead. Shay’s overall take still turned out to be just over a third of her sales, which means she made just over $10,000 to have fun doing what she loves.

So is Etsy worth it?

It depends.

It probably won’t offer much as a main source of income, especially when you’re first starting out, but it could serve as a fun side gig. And if you happen to hit a viral streak or become extremely popular, you just might find yourself with more orders than time.
